I’ve just recalled the connecting phrase - “but who controls the zipper” - to “who wears the pants in the relationship.” Not only do I realize how massively sexist it is (I clearly haven’t thought it through in the years it’s wandered around the far recesses of my brain), but I get the sexual implications behind it.
I always thought the zipper part was about mortally wounding the dick, not sexual wiles.

It’s 3 PM, and the only thing I’ve eaten today was one of those little mini boxes of cereal. It made my stomach hurt for hours afterword. What on earth is wrong with me this week?

It was unusual that the song was played quite frequently and was incredibly popular and yet it failed to make the charts. I’ve lost five pounds in the last three days. It’s not healthy, and I’m getting a lot of headaches, which might be attributed to the fact that I’m not eating much and I’m straining my body a lot with all the moving and thanks to Simon’s dog, I’m not getting much sleep. I know it’s necessary to get some nutrients in the ol’ bod, but I’m not hungry, and whenever I make myself eat, I’m just… done after a few bites.
It’s probably the stress from moving that I’m not mentally acknowledging, but blegh. I’m not feeling very well at all. And there’s so much shit that needs to be done with the move, but I can’t DO a lot of it for various reasons, and I know I’m going to get yelled at even though I’ve got valid reasons - and the things I can do, um, well, I keep finding Mom and Simon’s playthings, so… yeah. Done with that.
It really sounds like I’m whining and making a bunch of excuses, but… I’unno. I just feel off.

I’m in Illinois at Simon’s house for the first time, unpacking and tidying and whatnot. We’ve moved five hours away from the place we’ve spent nearly five years of our lives. It’s strange in that, while I still think fondly of Columbia, I’m not upset about leaving. Off-the-top-emotional me hasn’t shed one tear for the people I’ve known and loved. I don’t know if it’s because we’ve always moved and it just doesn’t bother me anymore, or if my uncanny ability to detach myself from people and places isn’t just something I use to posture. I keep searching inside myself for any nostalgia that should be there, some sort of wistful feeling for anyone and anything, and pretty much all I can find myself missing is the convenience of all the restaurants we’d been close to.
Well. Goodbye anyway, Columbia. New things ahead.
